Greenbelt altering its vaccination protocol.

After much research and deliberation, Greenbelt has decided to alter its vaccination protocol.  The main change that will be seen is the addition of the Leptospirosis bacterin.  Lepto, as it is commonly referred to, is a disease that animals can contract when the come into contact with the urine of an infected animal.  The disease not been on the radar for many years, but there has been a resurgence in cases lately.  One of the most important reasons for vaccination against Lepto is that the disease is a zoonotic disease.  A zoonotic disease is one that can be transmitted from animals to humans.  This means that if your pet is infected they can pass that infection on to you.   The addition of this standard is as much to protect pet owners and hospital employees, as it is the pets we love.  We will begin vaccinating for Lepto this year and prior vacciantion will be required for boarding and hospitalization as of Jan 1, 2013.

For more information on the disease, check out this link: http://www.cdc.gov/leptospirosis/

Greebelt has partnered with CareCredit for another option when it comes to giving your pet the best healthcare possible.

Greenbelt has decided to offer another patient financing option for several reasons.  The first is for our clients to be able to offer their pet the care they need.  The second is that the Permain Basin Veterinary Emergency Clinic has also started accepting CareCredit and we thought it make it easier for our clients who use the EC to receive the proper follow-up care.  Lastly, CareCredit does not have to be used for just Veterinary Services, it can be used for medical and dental services along with many other options in the healthcare field.
